From the archives: Interview with Past President Amber Webb

February 3, 2018 Rotary Member

From time to time, we like to bring back an article from the archives!  Amber Webb, past president, continues to be a leader in our club and our community.  Here’s an interview as she began her year as Club President, 2015-16.

Blog Post:  A conversation with President-Elect Amber Webb.  (from Spring 2015)

Amber attended PETS in March.  PETS is a mandatory training seminar that prepares upcoming Rotary club and district leaders for their terms in office.

Rotary Club of Pisgah Forest (RCPF): What was your favorite part of PETS?

Amber:  Networking with other younger generations of Rotarians.  I also enjoyed the dynamic speakers – they really help you understand the core of Rotary and what it has meant to so many lives over so many years.  Hearing the stories and feeling the passion is always moving.

RCPF:  What are you looking forward to as an ongoing leader and soon to be President of Rotary Club of Pisgah Forest?

Amber:  Growing and developing a club that is already well seasoned.  I’m looking forward to taking both the club and myself to a new level.  I want to push myself to new limits as a leader and also work for the betterment of the club.

RCPF:  What are a few things that you would say to prospective new Rotarian members?

Amber:  It’s a fun, energetic, and jovial group.  Our club has a family feeling.  The members are genuine and very supportive.  I feel that when there’s a club need or if someone in the club needs help – everyone comes together to help. There’s a huge sense of family in our club and it touches me.

RCPF:  Our big fundraiser and event is Assault on the Carolinas.  What does it mean to the club and the community?

Amber:  It’s a huge initiative.  A lot of work and fun.  The Assault on the Carolinas brings out the community out and gets them engaged in the excitement.  It kicks off the spring and summer season here.  It’s a great way to bring new faces and money to our town.  And it gives our club a great resource to give back.

RCPF:  We know you are busy in your career as Vice President | Financial Sales Manager II at First Citizens Bank at the Brevard Main Office.  You also serve on other community boards.   Share a few things that you enjoy outside of work, Rotary and other community commitments.

Amber:  Nothing brings me more joy in this world than to spend time with my nieces and nephews. We spend a lot of time and money at the ice cream shop, dancing and listening to music. Aside from my devotion to family, I love to cook and have a passion for beautiful flowers. My parents raised me in a home where dinner was spent every night around the table together and mostly prepared by them. Gardening was a passion of my parents and in return has become one of my own.

Thank you Amber.  We know you will have an exciting and rewarding year.  And she did!
