President Skip Hirsh, Rotary Club of Pisgah Forest presided over the July 13 meeting to present grants to 21 organizations.  Grants committee chairperson Mike Shelley said that all of the grants were for programs providing direct benefit to Transylvania County citizens in the areas of youth, education, or health.  There was a great turnout for the meeting with only one organization (Free Rein) unable to attend.

Representatives of the following organizations were present: Kathie Williams (The Children’s Center), Melanie Jones (Blue Ridge Free Dental Clinic), David Mahoney (Boy Scouts of America), Lee McMinn (Bread of Life), Candice Walsh (Cindy Platt Boys & Girls Club), Jennifer Molliere (The Haven), Stephen Shields (Davidson River School), Suzannah Palumbo (Hendersonville Pediatrics Resiliency Scholarship), Shirley Cox (Imagination Library), Sally Stepp (SAFE), Ella Jones (Rise & Shine), David Perrett (Brevard Music Center), Muddy Sneakers (Rebecca Broadbent), Kids in Camp (Diane Daniel), Chase Bishop (TIME 4 Real Science), Tammy Hopkins (Transylvania Community Arts Council), Paula Bennett-Padick (Vision VIZ), David Mahoney (Sheriff’s SHIELD Camp), Yvonne Dixon (Transylvania Heritage Museum), Stephanie Brandenberg (Transylvania Youth Strings).  The club’s April fundraiser Assault on the Carolinas, a bike ride, sources the funding for the local grant program.  Thank you to riders, sponsors, volunteers and community for making these grants possible.
