Community:

Pack the Pantry: Food Drives for Sharing House
RCPF organizes two food drives (usually June and November) to support the pantry for Sharing House. Recent food drives have collected over 9,000 pounds of food and necessities and over $6,000 for needed supplies. There’s support needed closer to each of the food drives and day of support.

Assault on the Carolinas:
This annual "Rotary all hands on deck" bike ride is the sole fundraiser for Rotary Club of Pisgah Forest. A ride for 1000 bikers requires year around support. There are many ways Rotarians can help in addition to "day of". The funds raised support programs in all four Rotary Avenues of Service.

Youth Services:

Interact: Meets weekly during the school year.
Interact is a club for high school students who want to join together to tackle the issues in their community. The students work on service projects, develop leadership skills, have fun. For the past several years RCPF has sponsored a club at Brevard High School. The club has student leadership and teacher involvement. Rotarians serve as advisors. 5th Grade Expo: March event; Location: Brevard College
Expo for all 5th grade students in Transylvania County. Coursework includes Money Management, Substance Abuse Information, What the Future Holds and Decision-Making.

Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA)
RYLA is a camp for rising high school sophomores, juniors and seniors selected for their leadership roles. Rotary Club of Pisgah Forest participates with Rotary District 7670 by supporting scholarships to RYLA and sending students to the leadership camp. There are many volunteer opportunities and ways to assist.

International:

PolioPlus:
In 1985, Rotary launched its PolioPlus program, the first initiative to tackle global polio eradication through the mass vaccination of children. Rotary has contributed more than $1.5 billion and countless volunteer hours to immunize more than 2.5 billion children in 122 countries. In addition, Rotary’s advocacy efforts have played a role in decisions by donor governments to contribute more than $9 billion to the effort. Rotary, along with our partners has reduced polio cases by 99 percent worldwide since our first project to vaccinate children in the Philippines in 1979.

ShelterBox:
ShelterBox is an international relief charity that provides immediate assistance to people affected by disasters such as earthquakes, volcanic activity, flooding, hurricanes, cyclones, tsunamis, or conflict. With 17 international affiliates, ShelterBox provides shelter, lifesaving equipment, and educational materials to hard-hit communities worldwide. The project partnership between Rotary and ShelterBox offers opportunities to collaborate in providing emergency shelter and vital supplies to stabilize, protect, and support communities affected by disasters and humanitarian crises.

Gift of Life:
A medical training mission that supports Philippine Children's Medical Center. A visiting medical teams provides life-saving pediatric cardiac surgery to approx. 10 - 12 children with congenital heart defects (CHD). The medical professionals provide their services free of charge. Visiting medical teams provide essential training for the local pediatric cardiac surgical and aftercare teams thereby enhancing their skills, which will enable them to operate on more children in their own country between training visits.

Vocational:

Rotary Club of Pisgah supports vocational programs in the community. Specifically through scholarships to Blue Ridge Community College and Brevard College. The club also supports member scholarships to the Vision Transylvania program.
